ARTIST STATEMENT
Kasia Parker's art is a process-led and exploratory. Her creative practice is deeply rooted in
ecology and the natural world. Her investigations focus on working with materials derived
directly from the environment, resulting in a body of work that is both experimental and
grounded in sustainability.
Parker produces botanical inks using wild and commonly found plants, which she uses to
create organic, gestural drawings that evoke natural forms. Her practice has since expanded
to include botanical dyeing and direct plant printing on fabric, further emphasizing her tactile
engagement with nature.
In 2024, she was awarded Art and Design Global Challenges Scholarship, which supported
her research into developing plant-based materials for three-dimensional works. This
included the creation of bioplastics and casting powders derived from eggshells—innovative
materials that align with her commitment to eco-conscious making.
Preferring to work outdoors, Parker embraces the elements, incorporating materials such as
flowers, clay, soil, and rain into her processes. Her work subtly explores and reflects the
interconnectedness of nature, science, and art, aiming to evoke curiosity and invite viewers to
consider the overlooked, ephemeral, and poetic aspects of the environment.
She is always open to collaboration with other artists and making cross industry links. She is
an experience tutor and often delivers community workshops on eco art, alongside part time
teaching.
